Shameem is excited to announce the release of her new single, I Love You, But. I Love You, But is now available for purchase on iTunes, streaming on Spotify, and viewing on YouTube.
I Love You, But has an ear-worm hook with a heavy urban beat and a deliciously dark, brooding quality. Shameem not only wrote but also co-produced the track, playing keyboards and contributing to the drum programming, in addition to her emotional, gravity-defying vocal performance. The song is one of four to be unveiled on Shameem’s forthcoming EP, Time Does Not Reverse, which was recorded and co-produced with Rob Agostini (Rai Thistlethwaite, Tim & Jean) at Soundbaker Studios in Perth.
While the song is personal to Shameem and the lyrics stem from a broken relationship, the music video produced by Alucinor Productions boldly takes on the topical issue of problem gambling. Shameem says, “I’ve never been personally affected by gambling addiction, but I love using my music to raise consciousness about social issues that are prevalent in the world, and I’m glad to be able to speak up about what is a tricky subject for a lot of people.”
Purchase I Love You, But on iTunes.

So, you’re probably wondering: is everything in Shameem’s “Under One Sun” video really made of paper? How did they make such big paper trees and buildings? And what about that painting right at the end of the video?
Some time ago, I came across the work of paper cut artist Renee Farrant, who lives in Albany (about 5 hours drive south of Perth in Western Australia). All of her work is created by cutting paper into shape to create delicate and intricate pieces of art. She creates such pretty and fine little things that I’ve always marvelled at how long it must take her to do one piece!

Shameem is very excited to announce the release of her brand new single “Beautiful Soul”! “Beautiful Soul” is available for purchase on iTunes and BandCamp, and streaming services such as Spotify. Check out the sunshine-drenched music video, produced by Red Bird Creative in Shameem’s hometown of Perth.
“Beautiful Soul” is the first single from The Second City, Shameem’s forthcoming sophomore album. Driven by Shameem’s expressive, soulful vocals, an unforgettable hook and a phat urban beat, “Beautiful Soul” draws together elements of R&B, soul and a slight tinge of jazz. Shameem’s sense of social consciousness has informed the lyrics, which draw attention to the way in which children are taught prejudice and indifference by adults.
Shameem, who considers herself a “musician” rather than a “singer”, not only wrote but also co-produced the track, contributing to the drum programming and keyboards as well as the instrumental and vocal arrangements.
Purchase “Beautiful Soul” on iTunes. Also available on Bandcamp.

Here are some sneaky behind the scenes photos from the film shoot for the music video, produced by Red Bird Creative, for my upcoming single “Beautiful Soul”. You can see here my dress (designed by the wonderful Ayesha Parsons of Decisively Ambiguous), me in action getting my hair and make-up done, the crew in action filming, and then celebrating the end of the day with my pal Diego, who was such an amazing helper on the day, and Bill Dobbin, who was acting as the main character of the video.
