Some snaps from my solo tour, which included shows at The Loft, Gold Coast, and at Maleny Music Festival in Sunshine Coast.
It’s been a busy and exciting 2015 for Shameem. In the span of one year she has:
Shameem is currently back in Perth, focussing on writing some new material in her home studio. She will be announcing her next tours in early 2016.
My lovely husband Kia came along on my recent solo tour; it’s the first time he’s come on the road with me touring. He decided to take a selfie every day with me in the background… This is the tour from his point of view.

At The Basement, Friday February 20
Been to The Basement lately? The venue’s makeover is gobsmacking, with the old décor, including the big spider, replaced by a flash look with autographed guitars and LPs on the walls. While still supporting metal fans, the venue now embraces a wider range of genres. Instead of bone crushing beats and ragged screams, tonight’s show engulfed us in a wave of funk.
Some photos from tour… 14 days of jam-packed madness, including 9 shows in 7 cities in 11 days, and radio interviews/ performances coming out of our ears!

Just recently, the band embarked on the scenic 5-hour drive to WA’s Great South to perform shows in the lovely towns of Albany and Denmark. Here’s a snap of me and guitarist Dom Barrett at the ABC South Coast studios, where we did an acoustic on-air performance.

Later that day we performed at the beautiful Denmark Arts Markets. Such a lovely, relaxed atmosphere, with the audience all chilling out on the grassy river bank.

Flight from Perth to Sydney: 4 hours. Sydney to LA: 14 hours. LA to Atlanta: 4 hours.
In Atlanta airport there is a baby grand piano in the food court of one of the terminals. The man at the piano is Tonee, who tinkles the ivories and croons the best of pop, soul and jazz tunes to the diverse people who pass through the food court. As I sat enjoying a smoothie, Tonee noticed me lip-syncing along to his music, and called me up to perform in his place. The crowd at Atlanta airport showed their appreciation of my covers of Aretha Franklin and Michael Jackson with warm-hearted applause – it was a good start to the trip!
