New EP “Time Does Not Reverse”

Shameem has announced the release of her new EP and fourth studio recording, Time Does Not Reverse.

Time Does Not Reverse was recorded and co-produced with Rob Agostini (Rai Thistlethwaite, Tim & Jean) at Soundbaker Studios in Perth. A multi-skilled musician, Shameem wrote and co-produced the EP’s four tracks, playing keyboards and contributing to the drum programming, in addition to her stunning, gravity-defying vocals.

A strong melodic sensibility and an unmistakable flavour of soul infuse the tight production, and provide the common threads between the contrasting songs. Ranging from moody to sunny, old school to neoteric, Shameem’s songs carry lyrical themes that span personal experiences, social commentary, and uplifting words of inspiration.

In keeping with her philosophy of celebrating diversity, Shameem has confidently featured her strawberry facial birthmark in the EP’s cover art, as well as throughout the music video of the EP’s lead single, I Love You, But.

Brand new single – I Love You, But

Shameem is excited to announce the release of her new single, I Love You, But. I Love You, But is now available for purchase on iTunes, streaming on Spotify, and viewing on YouTube.

I Love You, But has an ear-worm hook with a heavy urban beat and a deliciously dark, brooding quality. Shameem not only wrote but also co-produced the track, playing keyboards and contributing to the drum programming, in addition to her emotional, gravity-defying vocal performance. The song is one of four to be unveiled on Shameem’s forthcoming EP, Time Does Not Reverse, which was recorded and co-produced with Rob Agostini (Rai Thistlethwaite, Tim & Jean) at Soundbaker Studios in Perth.

While the song is personal to Shameem and the lyrics stem from a broken relationship, the music video produced by Alucinor Productions boldly takes on the topical issue of problem gambling. Shameem says, “I’ve never been personally affected by gambling addiction, but I love using my music to raise consciousness about social issues that are prevalent in the world, and I’m glad to be able to speak up about what is a tricky subject for a lot of people.”

Work in progress: “Moderation”

Back in the studio

Shameem is currently back in the studio, working on her fourth studio recording: a 4-track EP to be released in July 2017. You can expect to hear Shameem’s signature soulful sound which gives a nod to the grooves of the 90s, but with a fresh twist of neoteric production. Stay tuned for more news…

In post-production mode

Shameem is lying low for the next little while, as she prepares for the release of her next two singles and her album later this year. The music videos for the singles are in post-production, and work has now begun on the album photography and artwork. For a little peek at what Shameem has been up to in the recording studio, check out this blog article and this blog article. In the studio!

Summary: Three consecutive 8-hour days doing band sessions at Soundbaker Studios. Six 4-hour sessions recording and compiling vocals. Many mugs of peppermint tea, 1 packet of jelly snakes and a box of Cheds.

Thursday’s band session started off well – set up was quick and clean, and by the end of the day the drums and bass had good takes down for 6 songs. There were five of us in the studio – Robin and Bronton putting down bass and drums respeectively, and the rest of us playing along to give them a guide and some mojo. On the Friday, we finished off the drum and bass tracks, and moved to recording Tal’s keys and Harry’s guitar. Pleased with our productivity, the band ended the day with an energetic gig at The Boheme.
