Pass It On, live at the Time Does Not Reverse EP launch show at The Ellington Jazz Club.
Shameem will be performing at her favourite hometown venue, The Ellington Jazz Club, on Sunday 8 January. An early evening show starting at 6:00pm, it’s a good occasion to cool off on a hot summer’s day with The Ellington’s tapas menu, while enjoying the smooth grooves of Shameem’s full live band. They will be playing a mix of your favourite songs from Shameem’s three studio recordings, some brand new original material, and a cheeky cover or two thrown in for good measure. Tickets are now available here.
Cover song! Here’s a bootleg video of my band doing a mashup of the classic “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” and “Just Friends” by Musiq Soulchild at The Ellington Jazz Club. This arrangement was originally by our friend, Perth soul outfit The Accumulated Gestures.
There was some great press coverage from Community Newspapers in Perth, in the lead up to my gig at The Ellington Jazz Club on 18 October. You can check out two different articles that their various papers ran below.

SHE’S supported music stars such as Michael Bolton and Anthony Callea, performed for crowds internationally and fronted a five piece band.
Now after the success of a busy year touring, neo-soul songstress Shameem Taheri-Lee is returning to Perth this month to bring the sounds of her latest album to the Ellington Jazz Club.
The Victoria Park resident’s sophomore album The Second City boasts 15 tracks with lyrics touching on thought-provoking themes, including prejudice, broken trust and gratitude in the face of difficulties.
“Music is a very powerful medium which can be used to communicate positive ideas and messages,” Taheri-Lee said.
Here are some snaps from my recent gig at The Ellington Jazz Club… first, the pro shots from the footage taken by Mark Turner… (hover your mouse over the photo below to see the arrow to flick through the rest)
And secondly, the up-close bootleg photos from an audience member. Thank you so much Lindi for taking these photos and allowing me to share them!

I was on TV! Channel 9 show Destination WA did a story on The Ellington Jazz Club, and I got to do a little interview with them, seeing as they were shooting my gig at The Ellington. It’s a really nice piece on a great live music venue!
